WHO IS NICHOLAS GRAETER?

Unveiling the Truth, Accessing the Future

Hello, I'm Nicholas Graeter, and I am running to be your next Auditor of Accounts.

As a fourth-generation Vermonter, my roots run deep in our state. I was born at UVM Medical Center, raised in Colchester, and now live in Williston with my wife, a fifth-generation Vermonter, and our newborn baby girl. Finding out I was going to be a father was the spark that ignited my campaign; I simply cannot stand by and watch the affordability crisis continue to burden working-class families like ours. I want my daughter to inherit a Vermont free from these economic burdens.

My background is uniquely suited to the challenge ahead. I work in an accounting office, and I understand data, finances, and the need for fiscal rigor. Additionally, my experience in digital marketing taught me how to create content that resonates with millions. If elected, I will bring modern communication to the Auditor’s office. My goal is to ensure that any Vermonter, regardless of their background, can easily understand exactly how their government is working for them, and where it is falling short. By bridging the gap between Montpelier and every voter, we can create a truly transparent government and a deeply informed electorate.

My platform is built on fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accessibility. I believe the first step in solving our state's biggest challenges, like the confusing education fund, is by making the facts of our current situation crystal clear.

I am not a career politician. I am a working-class Vermonter running for the future of working-class Vermont. Join me as we Unveil the Truth, Access the Future.

My Priorities as Auditor:

Optimizing Corrections Staffing:

Analyzing overtime data and payroll compliance to determine if current staffing strategies are cost-effective or if systemic changes are needed to save taxpayer money.

Investigating ACT 250:

Auditing the permitting process, specifically the time friction and cost quantification, to clearly showcase the regulatory hurdles preventing new development.

Ensuring Student Safety:

Auditing the Vermont School Safety Center to ensure our children are safe in their learning environments.
